Everyone loves something for free, but when it comes to horse racing tips, are free tips worth backing? After all anyone can look in their daily newspaper, stick a pin into a racecard and select a horse to bet on.
In fact I’ve met tipsters, who openly admitted they put free horse racing tips up on their web site in order to attract visitors to signup to the bookmaker offers on the sites.
If a tipster is charging for their selections, there’s an incentive for them to return a profit for anyone who follows them. Losing runs are inevitable, but members are unlikely to continue to subscribe to a service if they consistently make a loss following the bets.
In yesterday’s blog post I mentioned the launch of a new proofing analysis for a handful of paid tipster services.
Running along side that I’ll be monitoring the performance of tipsters, who provide free horse racing tips, to see if it’s possible to make a profit from backing their free tips.
The Initial 5 free tipsters I’ll be tracking are as follows (I’ll include links to where you can obtain their selections – in case you wish to follow along):
- James Regan from Horse Race Ratings. For the past couple of months he’s been providing free weekend bets via his podcast and YouTube Channel.
- Steven Dowler aka Architect_Tips has been joining James on the weekly podcast to also provide his weekend bets. But he also provides free daily bets via the Horse Race Ratings Blog.
- Chris Loader – provides daily nap, next best, longshot and extra tips via his Lucky Loader’s 15 YouTube channel. Has done well with his selections since racing resumed after lockdown.
- Stephen Harris has been posting his selection via the bettingexpert web site, since 2012. He also talks about the reasons for the bets, the evening before the races, on the bettingexpert YouTube channel.
- Lucky Lisa’s Racing Tips is a site I recently discovered. Can’t say I know anything about the service, or even if it’s actually someone called Lisa who runs it. They provide details of number of win and placed selection, but no odds or overall profit/loss, so I figured it would be useful to see how their free tips perform.
