New Proofing Analysis and Reviews

December 30, 2020 By Steve Adams

Racing-Index has been proofing tipster’s selections since 2005. There’s been a few tweaks here and there over the years, but by and large things have remained pretty much the same.

The biggest draw back, in recent years, to the way tips are proofed, is only being able to show results based upon Betfair Starting Price (BSP) rather than taking into account early prices and the bookmakers Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) Prices. Unfortunately, with the proofing system being automated that information isn’t available to pull into the system.

From the 1st January we’ll be providing additional proofing for a handful of services. This will be run separately from the existing proofing section of Racing-Index.

Proofing will be done manually, with results updated from time to time via the blog and a soon to be launched Racing-Index YouTube Channel.

The aim is to better mirror the profit/loss that someone is likely to achieve, backing the selections via the bookmakers, rather than Betfair.

In addition to SP and BSP, performance will be shown based on BOG early prices, taking into account recommended staked points and will also be able to include enhanced place terms, bet multiples and ante post bets.

As we’ll be manually tracking the selections, initially it will only be possible to proof a limited number of services in this way. However if it proves a popular addition to the site, we’ll look to expand it further in future.

From the 1st January, we’ll be monitoring the following 6 services in this way:

  • Bet Alchemist
  • Tic Tac Tips
  • Speculate 2 Accumulate – Place Spotter
  • Northern Monkey Punter
  • 2020 Racing – High Strike Rate
  • Cheek Pieces

We’ll also be looking to review other betting services. These will be more short term reviews where we evaluate various tipsters, systems, ratings etc. To kick things off we’ll be looking at a few services that provide tips for free, to see if it possible to return a profit following free tips. I’ll confirm which service these are in the next couple of days.

Bet Alchemist 25% off – Black Friday Deal

November 26, 2020 By Steve Adams

Nicky Doyle from Bet Alchemist is offering 25% off, the first payment, of all plans for both his Value Backing and 1kto5k Betting Challenge. To take advantage of his deal enter the code “black” at the checkout. The offer ends at midnight on Black Friday.

Value Backing

This is the main Bet Alchemist service, where as the name suggests, Nicky advises horse he feels represent value in the Market. Prices for selections range from 4/1 to 66/1.

He targets the better class races on weekends and during the festivals. He has been proofing selections to Racing-Index since 2013.

Membership is available on either a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis.

Select the subscription period then complete the checkout form. Make sure you the coupon code “black” and click the apply button.

If selecting the annual plan, it will save you £60 off the annual payment. One thing I had to check with Nicky and he’s confirmed. The 25% discount only applies to the first payment. So if you select the monthly option, the first month payment will be discounted to £22.50 (+VAT), then future months will revert to the regular price of £30. Therefore the longer the subscription you select, the greater the saving.

1kto5k Betting Challenge

The £1k to £5k betting challenge is an annual event where Nicky sets himself a target to increase a 50 point betting bank by 400%, while maintaining a 40% strike rate for win and place bets.

Selections cover the best class racing action and festivals, along with mid-week action. He sets minimum odds of 3/1, so no short priced favourites.

A 50 point betting bank, starting at £1k, means initial bets of £20, but you can play along with smaller stakes, if you prefer to start with a lower betting bank (e.g. £10 stakes for a £500 initial betting bank).

This is Nicky’s fifth year doing the challenge and in previous years the bank has finished as:

2016/17 = £1,937.65
2017/18 = £913.21
2018/19 = £1,539.31
2019/20 = £2,000.25

So he’s not yet managed to reach his £5k target, but last year he did manage to double the initial £1k bank, which is still pretty good.

This year’s challenge started on 13th November, but it’s still possible to get involved via the Black Friday offer. You can either signup for 6 months or a year. Again don’t for get to use the coupon code “Black” when completing the registration form.
