The flat turf season got underway in Ireland last weekend and things kickoff in the UK at Doncaster tomorrow.
I thought it would be good to take a look and see if there are any trainers who like to be quick out of the stalls and bag a few winners in the first month of the season.
For my research I used the HorseRaceBase system builder to analyse the past data.
Past performance isn’t necessarily a good guide to current circumstances and with last seasons Covid lockdown, there isn’t any 2020 data to work with.
Never the less, trainers will often stick with what’s worked for them in the past, so those who’ve had their string fit and ready for the start of the season in previous years, are likely to do so again. At a time when there’s little recent turf form to work with, it’s an angle that may pay dividends.
