James Tate

Flat race trainer, from a family steeped in horse racing. He moved to Newmarket in 2011 and took out a training licence in October 2011.

He was approached to train privately for Rabbah Bloodstock and he hasn't looked back since. He sent out his first runner in December and over the next 4 seasons saddled nearly 200 winners to win nearly £1.5 million of prize money.

He trains at Jamesfield Place in Newmarket, the yard was built in 1988 and comprises of:

  • Around 80 red brick-built boxes, which have good ventilation and the walls are fully rubbered to prevent injury.
  • Indoor school which provides an excellent warm-up and cool-down area as well as being great during bad weather.
  • Two covered horse-walkers.
  • An indoor lunge-ring and set of starting stalls which are invaluable in the breaking and early education of yearlings.
  • Veterinary facility (James is a fully qualified vet)
  • Nursery paddocks for the turn-out of horses that are either in training or out of training.
  • Access to an equine swimming pool just yards from the front of the property.
