Thomas Symonds

National hunt trainer at Dason Court, Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. Tom has been training there since 2011 and treats horses very much as individuals and winners at any level are seen as a real achievement for all concerned.

Tom has a patient attitude to training and believes firmly that horses should be allowed to develop naturally and safely in order to fulfil their potential. He takes a keen interest in breeding and is a member of the National Hunt Committee of the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association.

Dason court boasts a range of excellent facilities, which Tom is continually adding to, as he expands the yard. They include a 2½ furlong sand gallop to warm the horses up, plus a 5½ furlong woodchip gallop, a 2 furlong deep sand round gallop and a 1 mile grass gallop.

They have a wide range of schooling obstacles, including three sets of fences and an open ditch, hurdles, fixed brush hurdles, small cross-country jumps and also poles and barrels indoors and outside. They also have an indoor school, six horse walker and extensive turnout paddocks

Tom can advise on different types of ownership, from sole ownership to syndicates and partnerships, and his yard pride themselves on providing frequent updates on the horse's training progress as well as mornings on the gallops and enjoyable days at the races.
