Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy

The Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy is a Grade 1 event for 5 year old and above novice chasers. It's run over a distance of 2 miles on the old course at Cheltenham. It was given its present name in 1969 to honour the racehorse Arkle, who was a three-time winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The race is run at a breakneck gallop all about having the ability to jump well at that speed. Horses that have performed at the top level, the previous season over hurdles, tend to figure well in the race. You'll notice from the past results that apart form Western Warhorse winning in 2014 @ 33/1, all other winners, since 2000, have been single figure prices.
